Julemandens hjælpere is a booking and reservation platform that puts families in touch with independent Santas across Denmark. We are not a dating or matchmaking service. We charge a flat booking fee for our own introduction service — the Santa's own price for the visit is paid directly to him and is never part of our payment.

1. How the platform works

A family creates a request with a date, time, address and number of children, and sees which Santas are available in the area. The family can send a request to one or more Santas. A Santa can accept or decline a request — Santas never browse for or contact families themselves.

The family picks one Santa from its shortlist and pays our booking fee to confirm the visit. Once payment succeeds, both parties get each other's contact details on the staged schedule described in section 4, and they arrange the rest of the visit and the Santa's own price directly with each other.

2. Payment and fee

Our booking fee is 99.00 kr., including VAT. The fee is charged to us at the moment the family confirms a Santa, and covers our introduction service: finding, matching, and providing contact details for an available Santa.

The Santa's own price for the visit is shown clearly before the family picks him, but is paid directly to the Santa and never passes through us. We are not a party to that agreement.

3. Right of withdrawal and cancellation

As a consumer, you generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal on our booking fee under Danish consumer contract law. This right, and how it lapses, is described in full on our withdrawal and refunds page, and you actively confirm it at checkout.

Once a booking is confirmed, cancelling it — by either the family or the Santa, and including a no-show — does not give a right to a refund or credit. We introduce the two of you; what happens afterwards is between the family and the Santa. The one exception is a payment that succeeds for a slot that has meanwhile been booked by someone else — see the withdrawal and refunds page.

4. Approving Santas and children's safety

Every Santa is approved by us by hand before he can receive requests. We check that the account is real, that the photos show the same person, and that the description and price are accurate.

We do not run background checks and do not obtain a child-protection certificate (børneattest) — there is no legal basis for this when we introduce independent Santas with no employment relationship. We therefore always recommend that a parent is present in the room for the whole visit.

Contact details are released in stages: once payment succeeds, both parties see first names and a photo in our chat. Phone numbers are released automatically 48 hours before the visit, or earlier if either party actively asks for it — which is logged. The Santa's exact home address is never shared with the family.

5. Messages and monitoring

Messages between a family and a Santa are stored and scanned automatically to detect fraud and attempts to circumvent the platform — for example sharing a phone number or email before it has been released, or arranging to avoid the booking fee. This scanning is automatic and messages are not routinely read by a person.

A member of staff only reads a conversation if it has been automatically flagged, or if one of the parties files a report. Every time a member of staff opens a conversation, it is logged.

6. Reporting and exclusion

Either party can report the other from within a booking. We have no financial sanction available — we only ever charge our own fee — so our only real lever is closing an account. A human always decides on an exclusion; an automatic flag never leads to one by itself.

7. Santas' status as independent contractors

Santas on the platform are independent contractors, not employed by us. They are responsible for the tax on their own fee. We collect certain information about Santas and report it to the Danish tax authority under the platform-operator reporting rules (DAC7) — see the privacy policy for details.

8. Liability

We introduce the family and the Santa to each other and charge a fee for that introduction. The visit itself, and the agreement covering it, is between the family and the Santa — we are not a party to that agreement and are not liable for what happens during the visit. We always recommend that a parent is present.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes are announced on this page, and continuing to use the service after an update counts as accepting the new terms.

10. Governing law and complaints

These terms are governed by Danish law. If you have a complaint, please contact us directly first — see the contact details below. You can also complain to the Danish Center for Complaint Resolution (Center for Klageløsning, naevneneshus.dk), or through the EU Commission's complaints platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr if you are a consumer in another EU country.
